Re:

Hey, a fellow Leo, TAPS. You're right . . . it shouldn't mean that much to you. It's one of the few things swirling around today that has absolutely no meaning behind it whatsoever. I think people just make this stuff up because . . . well, I'm not really sure why, but I don't care either!

I don't put much stock in zodiacal predictions.  In fact I never read the stuff.  I know I am of the Leo time period but that doesn't mean much to me.

Re: JimmyA

Thanks, Wiley. I do try to cover as many bases as possible, ya know, bounce around and break it up a little bit!  Sorry to hear about your brother, but I'm glad you two gentlemen "saw the light" and were able to come out from under the shadow of that particular disease. And apparently you and your brother were identical to my friend and I in that we were two people born under the same Zodiac sign with very dissimilar characteristics. Yeah, the whole thing is a lot of hooey . . .

JimmyA

I never put any trust in Zodiac stuff, and I had an older brother (Deceased) now, we had the identical sign and we were totally opposite except in one area, we were both alcoholics who stayed sober him 40 years and me 45. You realy do come up with good subjest matter.

Re:

Sure, why not, adnohr? I think any of us would take a "blessing" from the gods! However, I'm not sure about that Cancer-Tiger sign . . . sounds to me like a feline on its last legs!

Re:

Perhaps, mariss. But just like with almost anything else, it's probably all based on a variety of beliefs that have been handed down from generation to generation. I really don't consider astrology a "religion," and I've always felt that the two were usually at odds. Regardless, since I don't take any of it seriously, I sometimes wonder what another person's reaction might be if I answered their "What's your sign?" query with "I actually don't have one!" I really don't care if I'm referred to as a Leo or not . . .

Re:

That's probably the best way to approach it, sam. Take it with a grain of salt! I know there are people out there who will plan their daily routines, and alter them if necessary, based on their horoscopes! No offense to your daughter, but that's a very unrealistic way to live! If one wants to look at it all humorously, that's one thing. But I think you're just asking for trouble if you take any of it seriously . . .

Re: I ain't a girl for the stars either friend Jimmy.

That's good, Kabu. Life is difficult enough without having to feel compelled to rely on, or at least be cognizant daily of, a prediction that may or may not come true, or of character traits that may or may not apply. We're all individuals and we are who we are, regardless of our "sign."

Re: Jimmy

You're probably right, Naut. I think that soothsayers, fortune tellers, and little old gypsies with crystal balls are on the same par with any newspaper astrologer, who are all about as valid as a competent Congress! Oops . . . did I go too far?

Re:

That's really what it comes down to, FSI. And even with the day and date factor, it's still a generalization. And if it turned out that I was actually a Cancer and not a Leo, it still wouldn't matter! Interesting article, but I too still don't take much stock in it all . . .

Re:

I still think, lustor, that's it's all a generalization. I have a cousin and a sister-in-law who are also Leos who were actually born on the same day as me, and we too share very few similar personality traits!

It is a fun thing to read, but I really don't know enough about it to judge one way or the other. I found the Chinese signs more interesting. I read once that my birth date made me a Cancer-Tiger, which meant I was blessed by the Gods. I'll take it!!

Although your friend is more outgoing, you seem to me to exhibit all the characteristics that were named in your blog for a Leo.  The funny thing is, I am not really that much in favor of astrology and against it as a religion, but some of it seems to have a hint of truth in it at times.

I do not do anything with the zodiac! My daughter checks hers in the morning paper and I give her the business on it! I either say her horror-scope or tell her she puts too much emphasis on a generic horoscope! The paper is just silliness to me! sam

Jimmy

This is a question I simply can't answer! I must tell you that I think astrology is about as valid as augury, or possibly even less so...

Like you I don't put stock into my Zodiac sign because of the variance in personality nor do I put any stock into those generic horoscopes.

What most don't realize is that their sign is actually the one that comes before theirs. The constellations and their relationship to the sun has changed a lot over the years to cause that. For example, June 14th is my birthday, but I am not a Gemini but instead a Taurus. Here is an article if you or anyone else is interested.

Even with that information, I still factor in the variance in pesonality and the generic nature of the horoscopes.

its not so much the sign but a lot depends on the time of day and the day etc, my daughter represents the Gemini sign very well, she was born the day after my dads bday and isnt like him at all but a astrologer would go back to the time etc to clarify her and others born around the same time.
