There is a player on the local indoor soccer team named Ptah (prounounced Tah). I thought for years that his name was Tom.

I used to have a co-worker who was originally from India named Dinesh, but who I nicknamed "Danish," a two-in-one joke. One, a slight mispronunciation of his name, and two, if there was ever anyone who didn't look Danish, it was he! Fortunately he had a great sense of humor, and was actually a very good colleague!
