I have to agree with Kabu and Adnohr--Happiness, like unhappiness,
is a matter of choice. I've spent a lifetime trying to grasp this, and it seems always tied up with whether we focus on what we have, or what we lack.
I talk a lot about Complex PTSD, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself: everyone who has survived a painful, lonely, abused childhood can benefit just from knowing about long-term emotional/mental trauma. A search on CPTSD, or Childhood Abandonment, will lead to some fascinating revelations about why we are the way we are, and why we use the coping strategies we do, that often end up counter-productive. Just knowing can be a great healing!

Kabu is right. We choose happiness. Great to hear Joyce's brother is doing better and that his son is there for him too - and also to know that you and Piggens have each other.
