Love this. I have had many, but can't think of a single one, blank slate for now. I like yours and putting a name to the phenomenon.

That was very interesting! And, now I learned something, too! I thought of a few songs that had been misinterpreted, too! sam

That is the way I sing, if one call it singing, but I never knew of the term. Fun, thanks.

On our local radio station they had call-in for 'mondegreen', althought we didn't know that term. Some of them were hilarious! Happy to be sharinf my snow!

Never heard of the term either, though I'm quite familiar with the phenomenon - I get the lyrics wrong so much that I no longer pay attention to them at all...

I never heard the term Mondegreen...
But it reminds me of the characters in some play I can't remember the title of, about Mr. and Mrs. Malaprop. These days, with some performances, I can only HOPE I'm not hearing what I think they're saying. :)

There seems to be a lot of mondegreens connected to song lyrics. For years, many people thought Jimi Hendrix was singing "Excuse me while I kiss this guy," instead of "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" in the song Purple Haze. And in Black Sabbath's song Paranoid, many people thought Ozzy Obsourne was singing "I tell you to end your life," instead of the actual lyric "I tell you to enjoy life." Yeah, mondegreens can be fun sometimes . . .
