It's interesting you bring up your aversion to sadness, and fathers. For me, this is more potent than for others, maybe, because my dad died just a few years ago, and was like Butch in a number of ways... and my son has this uncanny thing of occasionally looking like my dad, as well, though his own personality is very different. I can't help seeing this as a useful, cathartic experience.

Although it sounds like a wonderful production, I must admit that I now try to avoid things connected to both sadness, and someone's father ( my dad passed away 8 years ago, and I don't need to be reminded of it in any way ). I know it's not the father who dies, and even though it's nearly impossible to avoid sadness on a daily basis, I still give it my best effort!
