Re:

Thanks, lion. I think it's good from time to time for us "oldsters" to pass along as much info as possible to these "youngsters." I think he understood where I was coming from . . .

Re:

Thanks, Collene. I'm not sure if I would classify myself as "brilliant," but I'll take the compliment!  I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day as well!

Re: JimmyA

I had a feeling, Wiley, that even though you're also a fellow hockey fan, that you would have seen my side on this, and would have done the same thing! A powerful thing this emotion called love . . .

Re:

Well, thankfully, adnohr, is wasn't a playoff game, but a very exciting game nonetheless, and a difficult one to leave! But, as a dedicated husband, ya gotta do what ya gotta do . . .

Re:

Thanks, Utah. And I will miss yours as well. Is there any breech in protocol for one guy to wish another guy a Happy Valentine's Day anyway?

Re: thank you for the wishes, actually every day here is Valentine's day

Thanks, Kabu. However, I don't think my wife felt quite that low!  She was mad at herself for ruining my afternoon, and equally mad at herself for locking her keys in the car in the first place. It didn't matter though. She knew her knight in shining armor would ride up on his white horse to save the day . . . !

Re:

It was rather difficult, FSI. I know some husbands who, if faced with a similar situation, would have probably told their wives "You're just going to have to wait until my game is over!" And in this case, that would have been quite a long time, seeing how this particular game went all the way to a shoot-out! But I could never have done that to my wife . . .

Re:

I'm sure we do, lustor, as a part of our AAA coverage. But I'm guessing, as far as my wife was concerned, that it was just a little easier, and probably a little less embarrassing, to simply call me and have me bring her her spare set!

Re: Jimmy

Are you sure, Naut? Toronto is an "up and coming club" right now, but I think my Rangers can handle 'em! However, I know what you mean . . . I hate to see my Rangers beaten soundly by any team!

Re: Right choice...:) Such a sweet and romantic story!

Thanks, Katray. Yeah, I think we're both lucky too!  And if I had to do it over again, it would still have left my hockey game to do whatever my wife needed me to do . . .

Re:

Thanks, sam. Yeah, I was angry, but I also knew that making the situation worse would accomplish nothing ( she didn't lock her keys in the car on purpose! ). I believe the lesson sank in nicely for my niece's husband . . .

I totally agree, love conquers all.

Wouldn't work here. I turn the phone off during hockey games.

thank you for the wishes, actually every day here is Valentine's day

which is wonderful. I am sure your wife felt like I would ...lower than the lowest, slime on the ground because she loves you too and knew she was ruining your well earned afternoon, but she of course called you. Her Rock who never lets her down. Yes a very happy marriage.

A powerful post I find this to be. As a hockey fan, I know how difficult it is to go away from the television...

very nice answer to your niece's hubby, but I am curious you dont have road side assistance?

Jimmy

Of course it was the right choice!!! But if something similar should happen the next time the Rangers play the Leafs, you'll have no problems leaving! You wouldn't want to watch them getting beaten rather badly...

Right choice...:) Such a sweet and romantic story!

Your wife is lucky and so are you. Happy Valentine's Day to you both!

You did the right thing! And, I believe it all happened so that you would have a story to tell to help someone else out as it turned out to be in this post! I think it was fine to be angry but it's more important not to abase another person as you did, too! All in all it is a good lesson for anyone! sam
