Re: Annicita,

Welcome home!  I am looking forward to reading of your ongoing adventures!

And, yes, I can see that most often, it is not a new employee's fault that no one has supervised their training.

it goes with the modern day thought....cheap labor with little training and throw to the wolves....shove it all into a training manual and expect them to learn it with little training and then blame it on them if you dont get the service you want....

I agree wholeheartedly! If a "trainee" is still ignorant of the product they are selling, then a competent salesperson should be there with them showing them the ropes, and forcing them to listen intently when something is being explained ( it's called passing on information ). Good rant!

Well Waitrose and most large firms here have very polite and helpful assistants, Waitrose have a payment reward !0% bonus I think this year it was  equivalent to 7weeks salary, it is quite a large concern  here  but of course has no shareholders.Makes a difference.

Re: Katray,

I think they think about money and not much else.

I think many business owners entrust their establishments to low paid

management and even lower paid staff, which makes for disinterested workers and high turn over rates. The corporate model entrenching?..

Re: Naut,

Damn right, I expect service!  We should all expect it, and make a fuss when we don't get a better standard of service than untrained employees can deliver.  The standards of service, education, and quality generally are on that long downhill slide, and it seems to me, if we don't insist on better, it is our own fault.

Yes, I remember that show, it was a hoot!

Service? You expect service??? Hahahahah...Seriously, though, I try to do business with small Mom and Pop stores whenever possible, because those are the only places where you can still get service these days! Remember that old British sit-com, Are you being served? It was funny and showed service, even if it was mostly insane...
