I just loved the Japanese. You should show us the game and explain the rules...We could get a long distance tournament going.

How wonderful to learn a game from ancient cultures like this and so

different. sadly I don't play chess or cribbage or mahjong, never play games I used to play Bridge!!

I played chess, taught my oldest son until I couldn't win anymore, now hven't played in years. You must have picked up some Japanese language too. Still enjoying this post old chap.

I once played chess with my cousin Richard. Not long after that

he took vows and became a Franciscan brother. Don't know if there's any connection.

I wonder how bringing in the pieces captured plays into the strategy of the game.
