Re:

I think I understand, mariss. My wife and I like the "simple life" too. And one doesn't always have to "go with the times." Sometimes the old tried and true methods still work best . . .

I Like It!! Classical thought is better for me, even though I have been forced to go with the times to some degree.  A nice life and a picket fence would have worked best.

Re:

You're welcome, lion. As I've said, there might be a few of those observations that are subjective or debatable, but overall, I think it paints a fairly accurate picture of our society today, and it ain't pretty!

Re:

For a bunch of Hippies, adnohr, they seem very perceptive, and I must concur! I guess that's why some people have bumper stickers on their cars that read: "Whoever dies with the most toys wins!" Unfortunately, most of the people who live by that credo are the same ones who run everything! Oh how I long for the days of simplicity . . .

Re:

If you can find the answer to that, TAPS, send it immediately to D.C. and see what they can do with it! It seems like it won't matter anyway. It appears to me sometimes that a great deal of our fellow citizens have become selfish, inconsiderate morons, and it gets worse with each passing generation. Is there a way back? I hope so, but I must admit I'm very pessimistic . . .

Re: Wow, this is...us, lol...

To be honest, Katray, since I know my world history fairly well, I don't think the world has ever seen total peace. No matter what, it seems that somebody somewhere is fighting over something, and it's usually over one of three things: territorial disputes, religious differences, or financial discrepancies. And sometimes, it's all three! There's just no way of knowing what the future holds for any of us . . .

Re:

You're very welcome, Sinome. Like I wrote, some things you may agree with, and some things you may disagree with, but overall, we have definitely "slipped" as a society, and I'm not sure how we can go about finding our way back!

I'd have to agree with most of that, thanks for sharing it

My brother loved the guy! And yep - much truth in there...unfortunately. On my Facebook timeline I have the following: "People were created to be loved, things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used." It came from Hippie Peace Freaks.

It sure sounds familiar.  Why have we come to this?

Very enlightening, Jimmy; Thank you for sharing.  Most unfortunately though, we're not in the days of world peace..

Totally, lustor? There wasn't just a few you might argue? That's good! Sad for our society, but good for you . . . and me!

Re: Why, so often, are the greatest humorists

Absolutely, Ciel. I've always tried to tell people not to just laugh at George's humor and antics, but to listen . . . really listen . . . to a lot of his insights and observations. He was a lot more in-tuned to what was going on around him than most people will give him credit for!

Re: JimmyA

Thanks, Wiley. I've always loved George too. Not many comedians ( or people, for that matter ) can be hysterical but poignant at the same time!

Re: Jimmy

I'll give you that, Naut. Yeah, George can be a little negative from time to time ( or rather, from bit to bit ) but he's rarely off the mark about a lot of things! That's why he was always my favorite!

Re:

I suppose, sam, that each of us can see someone in each of these observations, as well as a few for ourselves. Self-awareness is never a bad thing! I guess we could all stand for a little improvement . . .

You're welcome, Utah. And I guess, as a fan, you can relate to where George was coming from on this one!

I don't think he missed the mark on any of it! I could see someone or something in every line I read! And, I have to admit I found myself in more of them than I truly wanted to! A time for a change for myself as well! sam
