I have been sharing these posts of this blog with Son #1 who spent three years stationed in Japan in the Navy in the 1980's. It has brought back so many memories to him that he is repeating stories that he told me years ago. Last night it was a long talk about Mama-san Tomiko, an old lady who had been sole survivor of her entire family in the Hiroshima tragedy. She had never been able to have children because of the effects of the radiation fallout and it seems she adopted son as her family whenever he was in Tokyo.

That makes a lot of sense now as to what he meant...I wonder how many wars were started and ended because of translators.

Aha! It's true, it's all in the translation! I am happy that got straightened out otherwise it would have been so awkward for the remainder of the trip! sam

I kind of thought it would end something like that. By the way, it was an old poem I posted today, no cries were extended, I added the date below when it was written so as not to worry others, thanks for the concern.

a very long more than 24 hrs and it ended well i am happy to read.
I am wondering how ken and the Captain managed to run the ship and business yet still work at hard labour during the night. Like you, even when young, I needed to sleep some times.
