I just read another of DeMille's book, "The Panther". First time I ever read one of his books where all his characters should have been deleted and the story too.

I killed off both my leading characters in my play that won the second

place in the contest. But now I have to be careful not to keep using that dramatic manouver. One gets tired of their yap yap at you after they are dead.

After reading this, I'm trying to think if I ever killed anyone off in any of my writings.  I remember several times I intended to, but I always stopped short of it.  LOL

Re: Nautikos -

Whew, "self-analysis." I thought I was just a bit wacked. :)

Re: C C T, "don't fall in love with your characters...."

Too late. I believe they're like the ones you meet in dreams - they're all you.

Re: Adnohr - I want a conversation like this one....

LOL, Adnohr... I had this "conversation" several years after I wrote the first draft, went back and realized the plot didn't work, the ending sucked and nobody would believe the characters would do what I had them doing.  I'd been banging my head against the proverbial brick wall, and said to myself I wish I could just ask them what they think...

These posts are giving me the needed encouragement to stop thinking about and to start working on the story I want to write. I can't WAIT for the characters to take over...I want a conversation like this one!

Don't fall in love with your characters Pat, they will not fall in love with you . It is really about Shares, but appropriate perhaps.

Pat

An excellent example of self-analysis...
