Refusing to help ourselves is an option, and can be changed, if we really want it. As for comments, they are important. I WISH I had the time to read and comment on every post in Blogit - but I don't.

Excellent and thought evoking, Jay!
I for one appreciate honest reactions. 
Mindless, "good job" pats on the head don't help us improve. If someone just wants that, I would probably stop reading them. My view..
