I can hear the wheels of the bureaucracy grinding...And yes, the V1 and V2 were a nasty business. Of course, after the war, W. von Braun became an American (before the Russians could snatch him and make him a Russian), and his V2 became the basis for the US space program...

My cousins in Manchester, and my Grandma and my aunt Angela & Uncle Frank, my mothers sister and BIL, wrote letters describing those attacks, and on more than one occasion my brothers Mike and Joe spent their 'leave' from the military with them.

My Aunt and Uncle and 2 cousins lived through the London Blitz
They used to sit underneath the kitchen table when the bombs were dropping....Not much shelter in a direct hit but I suppose it made them feel some sort of safety.

We sometimes forget just how lucky we were to live on this side of the ocean during those wars, or even the ongoing ones that are happening over there still. No wonder then soldiers come back all mixed up.
