Re: JimmyA

That's very possible, Wiley. And that's why I apologized for not knowing it. Perhaps with a little research I may be able to narrow down this woman's identity, but for now, the uniqueness of the story will just have to stand on its own.

JimmyA

I'll only get goosebumps if I learn the artist's name, I might have a painting by her.

Re:

Thanks, adnohr, although it seems that a few people may be having trouble completely believing it. Yes, I've heard of such things before, and as always, you can either accept it as a true tale, or dismiss it altogether. For one reason or another, I believe that the series of events the woman laid out is indeed factual, and this tale can now be chalked up to "strange happenings."

Re:

Skeptical as well, Utah? I guess there might have been a way to spin the story in such a manner to accommodate all of the elements, and with the artist having long since departed, there would obviously be no way of truly verifying it. However . . .

Re: Jimmy

That's fair, Naut. Sure, there's always the possibility that the story was either completely false, or the woman took certain "liberties" to embellish it. But going on the assumption that it's completely true, remarkable would be the word to use!

Re:

I knew what you meant, sam.   It's one of those incidents where the price on the painting is more or less meaningless, since I'm sure the family would never part with it. It's really the amazing story behind it . . .

Re:

I guess that's one way to put it, lustor. I suppose it will now fall under the category of the "unexplained."

Re:

If you're not watching it now, FSI, I think you will be! Like I said, some of the pieces that people have brought in are amazing in and of themselves, but sometimes some of the stories attached to them are even more amazing! Tune in . . . you won't be disappointed!

Re: what a wonderful story and of course they wouldn't be selling this painting

It was a bit of a mystery, Kabu, but you're right. Obviously this woman and her husband could never sell this painting, regardless of the auction price placed on it. I wonder how their daughters felt after hearing this story when they were old enough to understand such things.

No goosebumps here, nor surprise. These kind of things happen often, but unfortunately are not told or not believed. Lovely post!

Well, when you look at something long enough...

A remarkable story! But, skeptic that I am, I'll just say I dunno...

How utterly amazing! I am astounded and at a loss for words! INCREDIBLE! The value of the painting of course! NO, NO, it's the story, I just couldn't resist! sam
