Re: JimmyA,

It was pointed out to me, the historical inaccuracy was that Brig General Joshua L. Chamberlain was the first who took his hat off to General Lee at Appomatix, after the surrender, not Grant.  I can let that go by.

Re: Sam,

At least they have some excuse for not knowing.  Ever hear those 'man on the street' quizzes that asks basic knowledge questions...?

I haven't seen it yet, but am planning to. I've always felt that the Civil War was one of the most important periods of our history, and any movie dealing with this subject is usually very interesting and informative ( as long as it is historically accurate, and Hollywood doesn't take too many liberties! )

I was looking forward to seeing this at some time, now after reading here

it is a must that I am looking forward to. I am such a fan of both Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis

I haven't seen it yet so I can't say much! But, I have heard a lot of good things about the movie! Kobie Bryant went with some of his Laker teammates, and the ones from Europe were shocked that Lincoln died! I think Kobie needed to give them a history lesson before they went! LOL! sam
