Re: C_C_T

LOL.  My dad was a garlic man.  I became impervious to it....by eating it myself.

Re: lustorlove

There is very thick, special glass between the bear and the people.  When I have stood there in the same place with the male bear, Nikita on the other side, I have wondered if the glass was 100% impregnable.

That's a very creative way to get them to get to know one another so to speak! We had a young man from another town break into Zoo Boise to steal one of the monkeys! But, the monkey turned on him and the guy ended up beating it so badly that the monkey died! Then he told lie after lie and is now facing 25 years in jail and restitution of $56,000! The good news is the zoo got another monkey so that the one left behind will have a friend! It pains me so that drinking led to this, two lost lives essentially for the sake of foolishness! sam

Bears do have a deep and distinctive scent. Even humans can

discern their presence should they cross a path where a bear recently traveled. I love to see them in the zoo, especially polar bears when they swim. Wouldn't want to encounter one in the wild, though.

Re: Naut

They both had their names long before they came to KC.  I think whoever birthed them, named them.

polar bears are normally solitary guys so I am thinking that this must be

about babies. Adorable little white bundles why I may have to come down and see them myself.

Baby polar bears are adorable! I hope there's a new flock soon!

A beautiful specimen, and I hope they get along. My youngest daughter worked at our Hogel zoo for a year or two. She told me that the workers up there fear the polar bears the most. Our bears finally got new digs which includes a glassed off swimming area...They are beautiful and graceful animals to watch...Great post.

Neat! But Nikita? Is she named after Nikita Khrushchev? And Berlin is also a strange name for a polar bear...
