Re: CCT,

It's the old place, not the new one that is so... objectionable!

This spring, I mean to get a few pretty Cape Primroses like the ones in your photos.

WEll it will be a home once you can get organised. Not the ideal time to move, but when is?  Once it warms up hopefully it will lose the mustiness.

Re: Kabu,

I know... it's heart-breaking.  And organizing, that's back-breaking.  I need more boxes.  And books are heavy!

Re: Adnohr,

Whichever kitties I can't take will stay here with their "Dad" so they will be okay, too.

I admire your daughter for what she is able to do. I could never even vounteer in a shelter; I'd suffer constant heartache. For some reason it was easier working with people in the street, because at least most of them had some choices. So happy for you getting your place; sad that a kitty will be left behind.

my heart breaks when I think about animals who no one wants.

good luck with organizing everything.

Yes, that's the kind of decision that my wife would never want to make as well ( she loves all kitties! ). And I can totally relate to the "house aromas." Sometimes when my wife bakes, and I go outside and come back in, that wonderful aroma is almost enough to lull you to sleep!

Oh, I hate those kinds of decisions...

But there's too much of a good thing to consider. My life with a cat was so much easier when I did the spay and neuter thing.

Re: Naut,

You are probably right about Benny, because usually there is no one to train the dogs out of their little (and big) bad habits, and simply too many to house and feed.

And if only it was the needle... but there is often not the luxury of that.  I know some places use decompression chambers.  It is a very sad bad thing to be an excess pet.

Ciel

I do not envy your daughter's job! I would find it extyemely difficult to condemn animals to death! Incidently, I suspect that my Benny would habe been a candidate for the 'needle' if I had not adopted him...

Years ago my nephew worked for the KC Animal Control and he loved his job.....except....he couldn't take it that so many of the ones he brought in were euthanized.  He had to quit and go on to something else after a couple of years.
