Sadly the way things are going Pat sometimes Grandparents find they are still around when the children have passed on. So it is a good thing to enjoy while one can. Have another spoonful of jam if you feel like doing so.

I love your relationship with your children and admire you. Divorce kind of annihalated my relationships with 3 of my children. Advised there was nothing I could or should do about it. Thanks for comment in my post kiddo.

Family get-togethers, even small ones, can sometimes be a bit problematic - everybody carries packages of some sort, LOL...
And I had no clue what an IHOP is - I thought I might have missed some recently invented texting term, easily done, 'cause I don't text. I looked it up and found that we actually have three IOPS in this country; one of them is even in this Province, at Niagara Falls, where I haven't been in a while, and the other two in BC, which is a far more distant memory for me than, say, Amsterdam, LOL...

I find that our family does the same most of the time, Pat_B. I think especially since we lost Bird; it does have a way of making one aware that nothing is forever A warm post - about a warm family.
