Yes - and mine can hear a soft rattle of the snack bag all the way from the living room...which is a good piece away from my kitchen! Animals do have their individual characters though, don't they? (Mine like oatmeal too.)

Naut

This blog is one of my very favorites on here. I loved your posts about Max as well but you are giving more detail about the communication between you and Ben. It is really intriguing to me. Thanks for sharing these posts.

As they say, to each his own! You're right, your house, your plate, your decision... but I just couldn't let an animal like a plate! LOL! However, it's probably better than some people I have allowed to eat off my plates! LOL! sam

I was very interested when you were writing about Ben looking you in the

eye...well I really enjoy all of this post. When you write about your life with Ben you show us the really nicest of yourself.....but I digress....I had to take note of our Graysome...does he look us in the eye?? Yes he does. If I am lecturing him especially, he will nervously lick his lips and gazr right into my eyes I think he is looking to see if I am serious or if my eyes have a laugh in them but just like your Ben...he will often make eye contact. And he loves to stare Wiley down at times.

Ben's got good ears. He hears the scrape of the spoon

He's got owl's eyes, knows the phase of the moon
he carries the round thing, squeaky and fun
and gives the old boy an excellent run.

Sharing from the table, are we? I hope it doesn't interfere with his sporting activities!

Well I expect you are pretty immune to any little sniffles Ben may have Naut. I have a more leisurely breakfast I boil the kettle turn the electric stove onto high. A small stainless steel saucepan. Put in a mugful of milk a small handful of Californian raisins and a packet of 2minute oats. Rush back make the coffee. Back to the stove turn off and wait a minute. Pick up coffee and saucepan put out the light and back up stairs to see what is happening on the news and Blogit. I eat my porridge out of the saucepan as I type comments probably as it is sometimes a little bit burnt and I have to scrape the pan clean. Harpy my somewhat critical visitor has at times hopped through the window even when it is shut and criticizes my bad manners.

He sounds delightful Naut... but they all are  I think... I do not have my own right now because when my last one passed away, a wonderful German Shepperd mix called Groffy, there were too many rug rats crawling around for me to get entangled with a new puppy which as you know would demand most of my time.... anyway like I said I ado not have a doggie  of my own but I do in a way since my son's shiva Inu is often  in my care whenever my son travels... which is often.  Dj is his name and I adore him ( mutual I think :-))  That dogie knows when he comes to my house the rules even though they are different from his house's and he understand to perfection that the rugrats are off limits and allowed to do to him whatever they want ( within reason of course)  It never ceases to amaze me how gentle he is with them and how he protects them.  Truly  we humans claim to be the top of the chain but watching DJ sometimes I wonder if I take care of him or he takes care of me :-)  HAve a wonderful Sunday my friend  xoxoxo
