Re: JimmyA
I understand completely, Wiley. Like I wrote, my wife and I had always felt that 6:00 was the "cut-off" time. Any later than that, and you'll definitely have a wait, especially on a weekend. Slowly but surely, however, we've been moving that time up, first it was 5:30, then 5:00 . . . and now, we too try to get to certain places by around 4:30, if we can. Dining out is fun, but it shouldn't have to include a long "sitting around" period either!

We usually go to supper out at about 4:30pm to save that lineup, we can't stand waiting either......

Re:
Thanks, Sam. Yes, if the hostess had said that the discovered disc was more or less null and void, and we simply had to wait those forty-five minutes, we were already prepared to do so. Hey, everyone deserves a little break now and then, why not a tired, somewhat stressed-out couple working on their wedding plans?

Re:
Ya know, Against, my wife and I usually do too, especially if it's a pasta dinner ( a lot of acid in spaghetti sauce! ). But this was over ten years ago. Now we know to try to have dinner sometime between five and six, if we can help it!

Re:
I think they did, lustor. I mean, we had literally just walked past them to the podium, and right back past them again with our own disc. Unless they weren't too observant, which I guess they weren't, because none of them noticed that other disc laying there!

Re:
That's likely, adnohr. My dad was the same way. Regardless of where he was, if he couldn't be seated immediately, he would simply go somewhere else. He always said, there are just too many eateries out and about to have to stand and wait in just one. But sometimes, late at night on a Saturday night, you've just got to bite the bullet ( unless of course they're serving something else for an appetizer! )

Re:
Well hopefully, Utah, there's a big difference between being aware of your surroundings when you're out on the road, and paying attention to your surroundings when you're waiting in line at a restaurant. Unless your wife is prone to getting lost going from the table to the restroom . . .

Re:
It sure did, FSI. Someone was smiling down on us! And we'll never, ever know who it was that had left that disc behind! Hopefully, something nice happened to them some time down the road . . .

Re: That sounds like The Spaghetti Factory.
Actually, Ciel, I believe the restaurant was the Macaroni Grill, which I'm fairly certain is probably not all that different from a Spaghetti Factory. And I believe it was so crowded this night, that even sitting at the bar was probably not an option! Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure they had a bar . . .

Re: nice post and your honesty paif odd for you could ignore the dagger looks
That's very true, Kabu. There's nothing wrong with a little luck shining down on us once in a while! And both the meal, and of course the company, were excellent!

Re:
It was, TAPS. This was an Italian restaurant, and you usually can't go wrong in an Italian restaurant! I don't recall what we actually had, but I know we enjoyed it!

Re: Jimmy
Geez, Naut, for a second there I thought you were going to admonish me somewhat for not thinking to do that. Thanks for the turnaround!
Hey, if there were only two or three people waiting, I might have thought to do something like that. But when those hunger pangs take over, forty-five minutes is a long time!

Re:
Well, C C T, I always tip the waitress. But in this case, probably even more deserving of a "tip" was whoever left that disc laying there! It was a lucky break indeed!

I have never stood in line for a meal in a restaurant. I expect I would walk away too - and another couple could have used my disc.

That sounds like The Spaghetti Factory.
Glass cases with temptations out of reach... light discs... 45 min. wait...
Last time, I was seated immediately because I was willing to sit in the bar.

Of course I would have taken that disk, walked down the line and handed it to the person/couple next to the first one, congratulating them on their good fortune - NOT!

A bit sweaty Jimmy, but it was a lucky break. No one would have done differently. I expect you tipped the waitress
