Re: Les Miserables

Picked up the VHS tape at Goodwill the other day for .25 cents_ date, 1986 !  I still have a used VHS/DVD tapedeck player (cost $11.00 at junk store)  attached to my new TV so you can imagine my surprise and enjoyment when I watched it for the first time.  Yes,  it's a tearjerker.  Then only days later I caught the latest Les Miserables show on Public TV with their "25th Year Anniversary" show.  It should be on everyone's Bucket List.

I can remember a friend coming back from Europe and telling me that the highlight of his trip was seeing the play. This was years ago!! He suggested strongly that I not miss it if ever I would get an opportunity of seeing it. Loved TAPS' baby video!!

I saw that movie already... Great acting and to be honest I went in thinking it was going to be a dod.  I loved the book when I read it long ago and later on it became one of my favorite plays in NYC... I must have seen it 4 times at least Still the movie moved me... and yes, like your LSW  I did tear up...  Definately a film I would recommend as well.  Good luck with your 'puter troubles  :-)  and don't feel bad,  it happens to the best of us at one time or another... Be well  xoxoxo

Leave it to Grandson Peter to buy a light sabre for my six-month-old great-grandbaby for Christmas:

I heard some malcontent was carping because the actors

in Les Mis did their own singing. I think it may be better with really good actors who can sing a bit rather than having trained singers who overact. It's good to read that people are really enjoying this one.

Books and films rarely gel. I am afraid I have not been to the cinema for ages. Arthur wants me to join a film club, but I do prefer reading because one can fall asleep and not have to walk out into the cold. I expect you have keen sense of hearing I can never

understand what Opera singers are saying or singing.Although I like to watch the ladies.

I've never read the book, but I am familiar with the general story. I should check out that movie. And don't worry about your infrequent trips to the theater . . . it's probably a simple matter of there not being anything worthwhile to see anymore.
