I often hear said that our main problem ( meaning us westerners' ) is that we do not understand the eastern way of thinking... but speaking as one who has been married to an Iranian ( a Jew, not a Muslim) for over 30 years, have visited Iran on many occasions and know quite a number of her citizens, I am here to tell you that there is no reasoning with them or making sense of their way of looking at things. I am not saying , G-d forbid, that they are all evil or crazy... but I do declare that many of them are certainly one sandwich short of a picnic basket and life as we know it has no meaning to them. They run the gamut, from child like innocence to wannabe prophets... They can be sweet as molasses or sour as an unripe lemon and there is never an indication beforehand of how their manner will be. I pity those who must deal with them on a political or business arena... All that off my chest I must agree with you that we should be laughing at the ridiculous outrage they exhibit when anything is said or written about their beliefs. After all they do speak terrible things about all other religions and have gone as far as slashing people's throats for the crime of not wanting to convert to Islam. Like all bullies, when confronted and not in a mob they promptly back pedal so , yes, we should stop tiptoeing around them and force them to accept who and what we are. There is one small problem though... there are sooo many of them, and while we are taking contraceptive pills and limiting our progeny they have 7 and 8 children each. .. by shear numbers they are a force to reckon with... and for that I have no answer...
