Re: JimmyA
Same to you, Wiley. And yes, our timing seemed to have been perfect. Another hour or so and who knows? Regardless of what else was in that box, I'm sure those pears would have been the first to go!

Re: what a great story and you are really lucky that you arrived home when you
That's probably true, Kabu. Given enough time, I'm sure Harry and a few of his cohorts would have made quick work of that box, and my wife and I would probably have not been able to enjoy those pears ourselves! But I guess you can understand his temptation!

Re:
There ya go, TAPS. Our Harrys get seedless green grapes too. And apples, and seeds, and bread, and nuts, and . . . well, like I wrote, they're very well fed! Glad you enjoyed this little tale.

what a great story and you are really lucky that you arrived home when you
did...those lucious pears would have been stashed away other wise and not by the humans.

What a cute post. Years ago when I lived in our house there was a "Harry" that would always appear and follow me when I was unloading brown paper sacks from the car. He was always hoping for green seedless grapes, and I usually had some for him.

Re: Poor Harry. You could give him a little frm that bounty, right?
Of course, Straight. Don't worry . . . Harry gets his fair share, each and every day!

Thanks, Utah. If it garnered even a slight smile, then it was worth telling! I thought it was cute too!

Re: J
We are indeed, Justi. And anything we can't eat, Harry gets anyway! But we have to be careful in the future, now that Harry has begun to suspect what might be in some of those boxes we receive!

Re: Jimmy
Not as much guilt as you might think, Naut. Like I told Ciel, our squirrels are definitely not starving, and we did share with them as much of these pears as we could! They truly were a delicacy!

Re: And did you share just a bit of all that deliciousness
Of course, Ciel! My wife cores each pear like she would an apple, and the cores get tossed out into the yard. Don't worry. Like I've written before, our squirrels are very well fed! In fact, when they sit there staring at us, they now look like tiny Buddhas! Plenty of stored fat to get them through the winter!

Oh, no, lustor, they weren't his pears! He just thought they were his pears! Don't worry . . . we shared!

That is a lovely little story. I can see Harry now watching your porch patiently daily for yet another feast. I hope you two are enjoying the beautiful pears.

LOL! And do I detect just the tiniest bit of guilt for having poor Harry deprived of what he thought were his delicacies?
