She was 87 when we had this conversation, and had just come through a mastectomy. They were giving her drugs for pain. She had never mentioned this before, and to my memory had never spoken about how she met my father. She divorced him for bigamy and sued him for child support - which he never paid, so conversations about him were never pleasant. This was the only time she ever told the story - and my sisters would hardly believe it when I told them what she said and that she was giggling.
