Re:
That's a nice memory, lustor, but I must ask . . . how did your kids sleep through those blaring sirens? Perhaps they knew that, if they awoke and ran out for a peak, they might jeopardize Santa's actual visit! Smart kids . . .

Re:
Believe it or not, C C T, that particular suit was only recently retired! It lasted . . . let's see . . . at least 25 years! They made them pretty well back then! But back then, the "textile elves" probably had better representation, and took a little more pride in their work!

Re:
I guess it worked, mariss. But even if it hadn't, I don't think any of my nieces or nephews were so put off by the "twin Santas" that they would have refused any presents from the one sitting before them!

Re:
Really, FSI? I guess Santa is carted around in a loud fire truck in your neck of the woods as well, huh? Like I wrote, I didn't mind. I just wished he had waited a little longer . . .

Re: JimmyA
Same to you, Justi. I'm glad you liked these stories. And you're right . . . there are probably other "mishaps" that I cannot recall at this time, but perhaps others may. I guess that's what reminiscing is all about! Sometimes it's hard to believe that those same nieces and nephews who sat on my knee to receive a gift from Santa are now having children of their own. Life is amazing . . .

Re:
You had to know, Annicita, that there would have had to have been a mishap or two, but fortunately, it was never anything that may have "ruined" the moment. It was fun each and every time. And the tradition will continue this Christmas Eve . . .

Re: What a nice tradition and what wonderful memories you must have
Thanks, Kabu. Yes, sometimes it's hard to believe that this tradition is now in the third generation! I can only hope that I'm still around to see it passed on to the fourth!

Re: JimmyA
Thank you, sir Wiley. And as long as there are small children in the family and everyone still enjoys it, this fifty-year-old tradition will continue . . .

Delightful! Any tradition becomes a real tradition once it spans several generations...

I love how different people get to be Santa...That's cool with the timing of the Santa and the sirens. Brings back memories for me.

That is such a sweet story. I am sure many of those then children have told many stories of those times that you may not even have known. It is how each child view the whole evening. I loved the story.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Life is always happier when people pick up old traditions and breath life into them. Congratulations Santa.
