Good story here Pat. She was probably doing what she thought was best for her children although it might not have felt like it at the time. No time for tears.

I can remember us moving five times before I was five years old. It seemed like we were always moving. I never understood why and it definitely was not moving on up to the big time. After I was five, we settled down and stayed in the same house until I was ready to get married. I like this version of your story.

Those hot water systems would get so hot and boil sometimes.
The one I had when i was living in the outback with the babies would boil if I had the fire roaring and and the tap would run red rust.
This must be included in the book....also the reason why she moved and didn't want visitors. My goodness she had guts.

Rough living in that shack and a gutsy mom makes for great writing. Seems to me you should go with this write, terrific.

Very interesting! Even if you change the point of view, I think it's very good that you have all this down and keep it in mind...

I wonder if you could keep this point of view,
interspersed with the rest of the story.
That hot water tank set up... I've used one of those. Loved it, as the alternative was no hot water, no hot bath. The woman of that house had a rough cabin with a really nice bathroom!
