Re: Jimmy
Well, Naut, a visit "in spirit" is probably better than no visit at all! Glad you liked my story.

What a fun read. Once before my own children were born (I think I remember I had one tiny baby) my husband played Santa that way for all my nieces and nephews, the children of my older sisters. It was so funny to see their expressions and their surprise and their jumping with joy.

What a great story! Unfortunately, we didn't have any uncles living close by, so Santa was only heard by us kids, never seen! There was a lot of commotion in the (locked) dining room where the Christmas tree was sat up, a bell would sound, and we were informed that Santa had been there but had to dash off to other kids houses, whereupon we were ushered in...

I'm sure it is, Annicita. That was one of my primary focuses. Not everything needs to be so grim and serious. Laughter is still the best medicine. Glad you enjoyed this little tale.

Re:
Thanks, mariss. I only wish I could have been more aware of my surroundings as a child ( how many of us actually were? ) I think I would have gotten a good laugh over Uncle Bill's missing eyebrows too!

Re:
I guess, Utah, every family has to have that one drunk in it. Uncle Bill wouldn't reveal that side of him until a little later ( wait for my next post! )

If they really are, C C T, then that's a shame! Christmas Eve gatherings were ( and are ) always special in my family, and I hope we can keep it going for as long as possible. Glad you enjoyed this tale.

Re: JimmyA
I suppose, Wiley, that if we kids had actually been aware of what had happened, we may have felt bad for him too. But since the disguise worked so well, we wouldn't be told this particular tale until well-after they had both grown back! Yeah, he is a legend now!

Re:
Yeah, lustor, that actually happened to us once or twice as well. Those Santa costumes can only disguise so much . . . !

Re:
They sure do, FSI. And this family tradition has been carried on now for almost fifty years, with I and my brothers doing it for my nieces and nephews, and now my nieces and nephews are doing it for their kids!

Re: what a lovely family anecdote. Good Ol' Uncle Bill what a nice memory
Thanks, Kabu. I'm glad you like this little tale ( more to follow of course ). I just thought that, with all of the tragedies in the news lately, people might like to be cheered up a bit with a semi-silly story.

I remember that I got to go visit Santa once. Maybe I shouldn't of told my mother that he smelled like my uncle Author, the family drunk.

Uncle Bill is a legend now and I have very thick eyebrows that grow quicker than the hair on my head. I really feel badly for Uncle Bill having to get them shaved off.
