i almost remarked to Wiley that as Ben cannot be buying these balls he must
have a couple of human pack members who spoil him...then I looked at our living room absolutely littered with cat stuff...all of it from the crow feather, the large paper bag, the disgusting looking toy mice lying in heaps, and the climbing gym and run through tunnel....I decided to

Well I should have to put Ben on the couch and hypnotise him but I think at a random guess that he suffered lack of love as a puppy and the balls are a comfort feature. Of course he does not really need them now and offers you one as a gesture of his appreciation, but you must not keep it that would be not good news.
