I agree with UtahJay. Pepper spray is easy to handle and less worrisome. My sons gave me a huge bottle, then a smaller one that is easily concealed. But are there many breakins in your area?

How about walking stick with a concealed spike, I kind of fancy that myself. We are allowed to defend ourselves in our homes at long last. It was a poor job when one had to b careful not to hurt an intruder.

i love your Santa group ...hit them over the head with the lamp..

that is what always works in the movies. But your sons are all cute with you and protective and it is nice.

I love your Santa collection. I agree with your son. In the world we live there is a need for protection that is only going to keep growing, but I can't help but wonder if maybe a can of pepper spray or a stun gun would be a better fit for you, not something that could be taken away and used against you. Believe me, I came from a neighborhood where a second of hesitation could mean real trouble for someone with a kind heart like yours. A kind hearted lady like you would have a better fit with something that causes no real damage to others and yet stops them in their tracks (that way you can use without hesitation if needed) without the worry of causing another any real damage.

The singlestick story reminds me of a report a few years ago

of an elderly lady who was assaulted in her home by a would-be rapist. She grabbed his genitals and hung on... and on... and on... He was begging the police to help him, when they showed up.

Never underestimate Granny!
