I think betrayal is a tough hurdle to get over, it's an object lesson.
Annicita's suggestion to forget, though, is contrary to my take on the situation. I don't have it in me to forget it once someone has deceived me. They never get back that trust that once gave them the advantage. Unfortunately it tends to make me suspicious of others with pure intentions who may do or say similar things.

Re: Deep insights...
Katray, it is the most viscious of cycles, that one played out by people who lack insight and willingness to be open to the unfamiliar, to reframe what looks, at first, bad.

Re: Sounds like you're building a character, and a challenge. :)
Actually, Pat, I am a character... and like adnohr, living a life that offers an abundance of pop quizzes. The class in Forgiveness makes good use of the educational qualities of betrayal.

Deep insights...
I'm always saddened to see people get caught up in tit-for-tat situations but I know how easy it is for emotions to engage in such. We see wars and other forms of violence play this cycle too and really it is meaningless in the bigger circle of life and connections. Very thought provoking wisdom here!
