An interesting post - but there's simply too much in it for me to address properly in this context. So let me simply make two very brief statements: you (the US) are in a mess, and your current Pres doesn't help. Next, (and as a historian I can claim to have a tiny bit of expertise in these matters), the short answer to your question #1 is...No! (The long answer would be slightly less emphatic, but would end up being a book, LOL.)
