hi Pat I think you should upgrade your Mother, her artistic needs were suppressed and devoid of love,she probably could not afford to be softhearted. Anyone can be nice and gentle when one is secure, it was the fighting spirit that kept your little family together and your Mother's genes are the the sweet one's in your own children. My opinion of course.

Wonderful post and writing this is resolving issues within yourself I feel.
Mama was a wonderful woman and I see where you got your strength from.
My son loves his father but doesn't like him. He never neglects him but isn't sorry that they aren't close. I think it is fine to love but not like.
Write on, you are nearly there and sure the editing comes after. And you are good at that too.
