What's wrong with candy and lollipops, Kabu? Just kidding. I know what you mean. I just thought it was somewhat unique for someone to have perpetrated a once-in-a-lifetime accomplishment, and not have their signifiant other there to witness it. However, it wasn't as if she discovered a cure for cancer or found a new life-form living on the moon! It was just golf, for Pete's sake!

Re:

Indeed they may have, C C T. But I have a feeling that you weren't exactly smiling, especially if you weren't wearing your long johns!

Re:

Perhaps that's good, Annicita. Either missing someone's "first," or being alone for one your own "firsts," could be somewhat of a painful memory, at least for some. Always nice to have special moments shared.

No No dear friend. It is good to discuss and ponder many subjects. Can't always be Candy and lollypops on here.

Well i was the first one at a funeral once and nearly caught pneumonia as the icy wind tore at my plastic wrapped flowers, the recipient would have smiled.

Re:

I never thought of that, luster! Yeah, I hope so too . . . for her sake!

Re:

Well, Utah, I can only imagine how thrilled your wife might have been to be there with you when you bowled that excellent game or caught that huge trout! But since you spend most of your time together now, you'll most assuredly have someone there the next time some kind of "first" comes your way . . .

Re:

I guess we all have, adnohr. At least one anyway. I'm not a golfer myself, but I can imagine the thrill of a hole-in-one, especially a first one. When I played soccer in my youth, that excitement of scoring my first goal ever was certainly cause for celebration! And I don't recall who may or may not have been there to see it!

That's good too, Kabu. Perhaps I shouldn't have even broached this subject. It's probably better for people to remember better times anyway. Missing a "first" might actually conjure up painful memories for some people, and I shouldn't have wanted to do that. My bad.

Re: JimmyA

Well, a big hello back Wiley! We thought you were on temporary hiatus. Glad you're back! And don't worry about the "remembering" part. This was probably too specific a topic anyway . . .

Re: Jimmy

In a way, Naut, I guess that's good. Believe it or not, even though I'm the one who brought this up in the first place, I am having a difficult time remembering any unshared firsts as well. I have a feeling there may be a few, but right now they escape me . . .

Re:

Yeah, FSI, my wife and I don't have any kids either, but I'm sure there would be a lot of "firsts" involved there! I suppose, as a parent, you wouldn't want to miss any of those

I hope he believed her and didnt think it was a fish story

There was the time I bowled a game in the high two hundreds, and the time I caught a 23 pound trout, but that was before I married my wife. We spend all of our time together, well most of our time in the last 28 years.

Aww! A hole in one is cause for celebration - too bad he wasn't with her when it happened.I've had many "firsts" on my own - used to it now.

JimmyA

A wonderful post my friend but no I can't remember what day it is most of the time, so I'm happy to be able to comment and say hello.

Jimmy

I find a shared experience is always more fun than one not shared, but I don't remember any unshared 'firsts'...

I'd hate to miss any hole and one, especially since I have not seen any...As far as a first miss goes, I cannot think of any off the top of my head. Perhaps if I had kids I would be writing some.
