You might get a chance, if this show goes on the road.

Re: JimmyA
I haven't seen MINNIE'S BOYS but know of it. I'd like to see it!
How's the storm clean-up coming? I was afraid maybe that second storm might have taken out your power again, just as you were getting warm again.

Re: Adnohr,
It has been such a delight to be able to go see my son's work--acting and directing, writing some short plays of his own... In the 2 years he has been in the theater department, he's done quite a series of plays, and grown so much as an actor!

Re: Annicita,
here's a big bag of encouragement to go see some sort of live theater at least once a year!

Re: Pat,
I like that immediacy, too. If possible, I go see each of Charlie's productions the opening and closing nights, and one in between, to enjoy how it evolves over the (usually) 3-week run. Closing nights generally also include a few antics that the actors figured they'd only get away with once.

I agree. I've actually only seen one play in my life ( off-Broadway, of course ) called "Minnie's Boys," a play about the life of the young Marx Brothers, who were coaxed into performing by their mother Minnie. The setting, the song numbers, the dialogue and the overall flow of the production was excellent! It also helped that I was already interested in the topic at hand ( I'm a huge Marx Brothers fan! ) And like you said, even though you are not into professional wrestling per say, you can still appreciate the production values to enjoy a play on the topic. Glad you enjoyed your "night on the town!"

So right. I'm in awe of stage actors and their directors who succeed in doing this.

It's not the same high calibre, but your bit about why stage trumps
movie of the same play is right on target. It's the anything can happen immediacy that makes me love a live performance, even high school productions... Saw Hal Holbrook do an evening with Mark Twain 40 years ago or so: never forgot it.
