I have a friend who talks in circles ike your mom did, Pat. I've seen people shake their heads and leave the room because she had them so confused! Like Kabu, I have faith that you will turn this into a terrific read!

As far as I am concerned, the most interesting thing about Petraeus is his father's name, Sixtus Petraeus, and the fact that though he has a Greek genetic history, was a Dutchman from the Netherlands who was named after a Pope and later immigrated to the US.  I think that is much more interesting than his son having an affair.

Pat

I cannot even begin to imagine what your mother must have felt to give away one of her children...I know something of a mother who gave up her children because at some point she chose another man - it was bad enough, but not that bad...

And the Petraeus-Allen-Agent thing is turning bizarre - the whole US security establisment is unravelling...

Actually ya can, but the trick is making it somewhat believable. One of my older cousins did some family history tracing a few years ago, and I discovered that there's actually a teeny-tiny drop of Russian -Jewish blood flowing in my veins. I'm not sure what that means!  And thanks for not bothering to get into the ridiculous Petraeus scenario. I so hope it dies a quick death in the media, but it probably won't!

Well of course Pat, it is difficult for folk to imagine the situation your mother was in, to sacrifice one child to save the rest may have seemed logical at the time, perhaps I don't know but it might have even manipulated her attitude towards the remaining children as we do not know what kind of pain she suffered in silence.
