It will be interesting to see how things materialize if at all.

I can appreciate your thoughts and sentiments, but I feel that even a "symbolic" secession is doomed to fail, and your idea of our nation returning to its "glory days" is just wishful thinking. When South Carolina seceeded from the Union in 1860, other southern states followed, and eventually we were thrown into the bloodiest conflict this country has ever seen. I don't believe that will happen again, but it's the derision that will keep the nation from uniting for the benefit of all. Remember, it's not entirely the fault of the politicians, because these politicians are people just like us. They didn't fall out of the sky. They didn't pass through some membrane from a different reality. They came from American homes and American families, American schools and American universities, American churches and American businesses. This is what the system produces. Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're going to elect selfish, ignorant leaders. And giving them terms limits doesn't mean a thing. You're just going to end up with another group of selfish, ignorant leaders. Someone once asked "Would you rather be a part of an empire's ascendancy or descendancy?" Because of the general ignorance of our public, I'm afraid we are now in our nation's descendancy, and I don't think there's a whole heck of a lot we can do about it!
