Several European countries that have legalized marijuana not only have balanced budgets because of the taxes involved, but general crime has also almost completely disappeared. I've read thousands and thousands of articles over the years about how family's lives were horribly changed because a family member was killed by a drunk driver, but very, very, very few articles dealing with the same circumstance because of a stoned driver. What does that tell you?
Most politicians won't vote to legalize maijuana until they can guarantee themselves a huge piece of the pie in subsidies like they receive from the alcohol and tobacco industries. I say it's time to legalize the stuff already, control and tax it like alcohol and tobacco, and watch the crime rate drop in this country like you wouldn't believe!

Thanks for reading, Kabu. And for your continued support. I think you're quite right, our countries would be out of a rut, but there'd be riots and carnage with some legalization.

I feel that pot should be legalized as well...For the record, I would like to note that I am not a pot smoker and have no intention of becoming one.

Well RM the nearest I have come to it is when I illegally grew my own tobacco. The result cough, cough, was like the flavour of burning rags and I am glad I had the sense to give up smoking. Of course the illegal brewing of spirit was another matter. We don't hear much about the glue sniffers now, I suppose all things that stimulate excessively lesson the lifespan and might be not very comfortable when doing so.

Yes Kabu, absolutely. And I see the unfairnes of the government contradicting laws that states have put into effect.
