Naut

I enjoyed this post. I used to love to drive. Many years ago I had a Camaro, it drove like a dream and was too easy to go too fast. I so enjoyed driving it long distances. I don't even like driving now.

Well Naut most the roads I diddle along are basically undersafe above 40 mph, but they are mostly country roads and it is job to see around the next corner. Anyway my car is 12 years old and only looks two years old until I look under the seat and see a massive box which 12 years ago was a state-of-the-art road finder .

I really don't like to think about the long drive ahead, but once I get on the road I love it. I know what you mean about knowing your car, and also knowing where each of your controls are without looking. And driving by the seat of your pants...Well I always do that. Good post.

Some wise words about driving and knowing our vehicles and ourselves...Like you, I enjoy long drives.

This is a very good post, interesting and informative.  And it brings back memories of long road trips that I have taken by myself, and enjoyed, and don't do anymore.

You're right. Knowing your car is extremely important, especially, as you say, on extended trips. I don't particularly care for long driving trips myself, but not because of overly-anxious children. My hips begin to hurt when I sit for too long in a car, and a 4 or 5 hour trip could easily turn into a 6 or 7 hour trip due to frequent stops and stretches! Glad you're back in one piece. Over 2,200 miles? Really? Geez!

Welcome back. Sometimes there's nothing better than a road trip.
