Thanks, Justi. I'm glad I'm back too! Yeah, my wife and I got over the "rough patch," but we're still picking up the pieces as far as our property is concerned. Branches and whole trees everywhere! Little by little, day by day . . .

Sorry, Wiley. I usually try to keep my word count to between 600 and 800 words, but sometimes I get a little carried away. Details, details . . . gotta list those details! Thanks for reading anyway!

Re:
Yes, it was, Bright. However, I don't think it will make much of a difference, given that this particular group of musicians will probably never amount to anything more than a simple "garage band." As long as they're having fun . . .

Re: A case of the cure being worse than the problem?
I don't think so, Straight. When something is blatantly wrong, correcting it doesn't necessarily have to be worse. Who knows why they chose the direction they went in next? Perhaps the other band members wanted their current name all along, and it was the singer who insisted upon Dead Man's Hand. We'll never know . . .

If you could see and hear these guys, Utah, you would know that there's really not much of a chance of that happenin'! Thanks for being on my side on this one! Apparently, many others felt I should have kept quiet about it! Oh, well . . . it's a moot point now!

Re:
Dead man's finger, C C T? Really? You would have been that upset? Hmmm . . . okay, the next time I see a band calling themselves The Sneakers, and their logo is a football helmet, I'll stay quiet!
As for those tree branches, it's an arduous task, but we're getting there. No, we don't have a wood burner, but many of our neighbors have fireplaces, and are more than welcome to take whatever they want! If you're looking for a pile, help yourself! If you can figure out a way to transport them, they're all yours!

Re:
In think, TAPS, in some of those occasions, it may depend on what the correction pertained to. It wasn't as if I got up on the stage and made an announcement to the audience that the band's logo was wrong, embarrassing all of them! A huge percentage of the time I would normally keep quiet, but since I knew the singer, I simply felt compelled to point it out. Believe me, he was more angry with himself than at me!

Re: Rule of Thumb #14
Was that Rule of Thumb #14, Ciel? Hey, like I wrote, I have no doubt that others would have noticed the error as well, and sooner or later, someone else would probably have pointed it out to them. I just took the initiative, that's all. Yeah, sometimes you can let sleeping dogs lie, but for some reason, I just couldn't let this one go!

Re:
Oh, believe me, mariss, it was! At least the Dead Man's Hand was simply a part of Western lore that many people, especially poker players, knew of. I actually didn't think it was a bad name or concept to build a band around. If only they didn't mess up the logo! And like I wrote, I absolutely refuse to upset or offend anyone by relaying the name change. Don't worry . . . they are dieing a slow death in the club curcuit!

Re:
Well, Annicita, the fact was, the singer at least knew of the Dead Man's Hand, and knew that aces and eights were a part of it. But like I wrote, he was off just a bit in his apparent research, and messed up the logo completely by adding that third ace, thus changing the hand. I just felt compelled to point it out!

Re: JimmyA
Absolutely not, Wiley. I'm not sure if my wife's co-worker was thinking or hoping that this band would actually become the next Led Zeppelin, but if they're having fun with it, who cares, right? And with their latest incarnation, I believe their ladder of success just lost a rung or two!

Re: Sorry to your lovely wife, but this band sounds like a mob of real looses.
No need to apologize, Kabu. Bands like that are a dime a dozen, at least here in New Jersey, and change their names so often, and come and go so quickly, no one really pays all that much attention to them anyway. One out of every 100,000 may actually go on to some kind of success, while the rest flounder going from club to club until they disappear altogther. It was just the novelty of seeing the band perform with someone in it that we actually knew. And the name they changed to would not just have made you blush, it probably would have angered you as well. Yeah, a bunch of losers . . .

Re: Jimmy
That's true, Naut! Why they decided to swing the pendulum in that direction was beyond me! Believe me, with the style and variety of music they were playing, it probably didn't really matter what they called themselves. And like you, when I see such a blatant error or mistake, I just can't keep my trap shut either, as I have just displayed. As far as a Blogit poker table, I would absolutely love to . . . if only I could find the time! I actually haven't sat down and played a rousing game of poker in over ten years! I do miss it.

Re:
Well, FSI, that's one of those pieces of information a friend and I like to refer to as a part of our "S.O.U.K." . . . or Store Of Useless Knowledge! I had read about the Dead Man's Hand a long, long time ago, and being an avid poker player, it always stuck with me. Others knew of this legend as well, because whenever anyone turned over aces and eights, inevitably someone would simply state "Aah, the dead man's hand!" It was rare, but it did come up.

I would have noticed it right off too and if the chance came would have done what you did...It was bound to happen and I bet in another month it will change again and they will be playing folk music down in the Village or something.

Well Jimmy I guess you will not get a ringside seat invite. If I had been the band leader
I would probably have called it dead man's finger. Could you fault that? Hey how are you getting on with cutting up your trees, hope you have a wood burner. Wood costs an arm and a leg here.

You and I should start a Blogit poker table, LOL...That aside, I too would have pointed out the error to them - I'm notorious for not being able to keep my trap shut, LOL...And there was no way you could expect they would sink from error into smut...
