I am so going to try. That's why I'm doing this. So others can learn from me and my experience. Plus I can do safely without having to worry about anonymity with someone trying to get stuff like coming by for a visit unannounced, trying to get unnecessary information, etc. Terrie

CCertainly a better staff’s needed. I don’t know the background that applicants need for those positions. They should screen more and try to attract a staff with the right education. And, the demonstrations can become too much. So keep a stiff upper lip love. BC-A, Bill’s R®st

it was the same in Australia satrted back then. All the Institutions were closed...not a bad thing I've seen and been in too many of them as a nurse at times.....and they opened group homes which were wonderful. People living dignified lives with 24/7 assistance ..most were able to work at special jobs or workshops...they have all closed the group homes have gone sold for profit!! now these people are any and everywhere they shouldn't be.

Yes, true. During the Reagan Presidency, and it's not a slam on him in any way, there were regulations and deregulations that placed a lot of people on the streets, mainly the mentally ill and mentally disabled. They simply couldn't defend themselves, were easy targets, and not many people were standing up for them. Terrie

changed for the better and my heart goes out to you. ...and I want to come in a verbally beat up the staff.
Sadly there were group homes for the people with mental and physical problems but it became too expensive. Now it is somewhere like you live, or the streets or jail. So much sadness in the world.

Yes I can see you are not happy Terrie, perhaps you could get transferred to another place, honestly I don't know how you could do it, I suppose you could ask your aunt.
At least I hope writing about it is a kind of salve, it is sad that they do not pay a good wage to assistants to encourage a warmer atmosphere.
