Secretary

The first time I heard the word used it was in reference to a human.

Mom had one. It was taller and more shallow than yours with a row of pigeonholes across the top.

Even though it had been varnished, badly, it was a beautiful piece of work.

I love it.  I wish I had room for something like that.  I grew up with one in our home.  It was my father's sole property and I felt very special when he let me sit there and write a letter to my grandmother, or draw a picture.

Love that secretary, I used to have an antique store in St. Bruno de Montarville, QC. Happy I found your post. I used to travel a lot, and my father lived in New Brunswick so it was always fun for me to go there when I did antiques and serviced printing equipment.
