Re:
Very elegantly put, ladylovemonk. And as I've told everyone else, there is no right or wrong answer. It's strictly everyone's own personal choice. I know narrowing it down to just one person was difficult, but that was part of the "challenge." Next time we'll just rent a hall and bring back all those people that everyone would like to spend at least a day with! Thanks for your response.

Jimmy...
Very interesting question indeed! If I could spend just one day with anyone...it would be Anne Frank. I admire her strength and her spirit. She was not, as most believe, the "voice of the Holocaust." Anne was merely a young girl with so many gifts she gave-and could still have given-the world.
I know you asked for one person only, but I would give anything to spend just one day with Miss Helen Keller. For that day, I would ask God to give her back her hearing and her sight so she could wonder at the amazement of His creation without the need for someone to describe it to her.
But as I've said before, I don't believe that Miss Helen was ever truly blind at all. Through her beautiful soul, she saw things that most sighted people never learn to see in the whole of their lifetimes.
That's my answer, my friend.

Re:
Maybe, Annicita. This "challenge" has certainly created a myriad of choices from everyone who has participated so far, and none of them would be considered unusual or surprising! You can choose whomever you'd like, and if that would be your choice, then I would hope that you would enjoy your 24 hours with Mary M. But I would be just a little curious as to what your initial conversation with her might be about . . .

That's okay, luster. I said you could choose anyone, and if that would be your choice, then that would be your choice. None of it would be considered boring! That's your preference!

Re:
I think, Utah, that many people would have chosen Jesus, but the actual "challenge" would have been for Him to be here and now with you, and not you necessarily going back to His time to be with Him. Either way, I think you still would have had the same opportunities to bask in His presence, and experience all of those things that you mentioned. What might your "diary" look like after those 24 hours?

Re: JimmyA
I think, Wiley, that a lot of people might have chosen Jesus, had this blog gone out to a larger audiance. Perhaps if someone conducted a nation-wide poll ( including Canada ) with this particular concept in mind, many others may have had the opportunity to choose Him as well.

Of course, Kabu. I understand completely. I lost an aunt many years ago to Alzheimer's, and it was terrible to see this progress in someone who was once so vibrant and receptive. Like I wrote, you could have chosen anyone you pleased, and if that would be your choice, I would hope that you would enjoy those 24 hours together!

Very commendable, adnohr. Thanks for explaining that to me. I knew this "challenge" would be somewhat difficult, but it has sparked some amazing responses!

I think I would have too, dsm. It would probably have been very interesting to have been able to spend some time with my parents before they became my parents!

Well I would have liked to been with Jesus when he was teaching, to see the mircle of the fishes and loafs, to hear His voice, to see His face...To touch His wounds with my tears.

Bird is my brother's nickname,
He passed over from cancer on October 14th last year. You were probably not reading my blog then - but many in the Blogit community followed his last weeks with me. He was a rough & tough and lovable devil with a great sense of humor, right to the end. Of course saying goodbye again wouldn't be easy, but I'd handle it just for the sake of spending another 24 hours with him.

Re: Impossible for i want to go to Naut's party...i like the idea of all his
I had a feeling, Kabu, that someone might choose a family member like this, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that at all! But I'll have to be perfectly honest. I could have chosen my father, but the only reason why I didn't ( or couldn't ) is because it would be too painful to have to say goodbye again after the 24 hours were up. At least with Groucho, I would simply enjoy the day, be grateful for the time we spent together, and end up with a wonderful memory.

Re: Jimmy
Me too, Naut, but the challenge was to pick just one ( I know . . . extremely difficult ). I would have no problem spending the day with any of the women you mentioned, but which would be more of a twist on the challenge . . . choosing more than one person, or being able to spend even more time with that one choice? I know, I know . . . I'm making it harder and harder. Screw it! Let's go ahead and rent that hall and have a party already!

Re:
Not a terrible choice at all, FSI. I would have also liked to have gotten to know my grandparents a lot better before they passed away. I know it was difficult to choose just one person, that's why it was a challenge. Believe me, if the choices were unlimited, I would need to rent a hall myself!

What a fabulous post! I too enjoyed the Marx brothers - aside from Groucho, only Harpo's name comes to mind at the moment - I mean, who didn't?
But as to spending a day with him - probably not, in view of the other choices, plus a few of my own. My list of 'possibles' would also include a few women - Cleopatra (who apparently was not as beautiful as popular legend has it, but she would definitely be on my list), Jean d'Arc, Elizabeth I, and, talking of Lizzies, Elizabeth Taylor; and among Lizzies there was the incredible soprano of Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, and speaking of sopranos - who could sing to me all day - would be the one and only Maria Callas, and of course Kathleen Battle, and the absolutely fantastic Jessye Norman, and so many more, I'm running out of breath, LOL...And speaking of actresses, no, not Marilyn, but Sophia Loren...And when speaking of comedians - who could forget Carol Burnett?
You know what? The more I think about it, the more I realize it - I don't want to meet just one individual person! I want a party...

Groucho's an excellent choice if I may say so myself...Trying to narrow down to one person is difficult to say the least. If I had to choose one, I would choose choose my paternal grandmother before she developed Alzheimer's.
