Re: Re: Annicita - "stereotyping to the max..."

i know i havent met her yet....i'm just giving my opinion on her name...maybe evangelina or eva...something more contemporary...evelyn...wow only women as old as my mom have that name that i know....

and i am not judging you about strong women....i've been called a bitch many a time by my stand attendants...(not to my face usually) but it gets back to me...I'm not a bitch...just strong and wont put up with people who want to ride the clock...stand by and watch the few do their own work plus pitch in to do the others....its not easy but you are right...most women who are strong are called bitches by those who don't like her to have power or be assertive...i had a friend tell me that...dont worry what others think...when they get like that it's cause they feel you are a powerful woman and they dont like it...

Ah, Kabu -- you've achieved the perfect balance. You're loving and warm and accepting of people, warts and all, but when they overstep you can develop an edge and keep them from running roughshod over the top of you. Funny, a man stands his ground and he's just being strong, but a woman does the same and she's... well, you know. :)

Thank you for your comment in my post luv, but I commented to all at once because I didn't need a debate from two others that had commented. My nerves are just shot and I should take a holiday for a bit.

This will come out wrong I know. I like what we see of your story but it seems to me that even being in salvage work is a trade she should get out of, until she delivers the baby. As an ex-aircraft salvage worker, there are too many toxic metals and electronics to be carrying a bay around as she works at that trade.

Re: Nauikos - I do NOT share the view strong women need 2b bitches...

That is because, Naut, you are a man of taste and class who would never act in such a way that a woman would have reason to put on her Cat Woman suit or bare her claws.

Pat thiws does make her less likeable but more real. She can still have a

soft moment or two. But when I was running a coffee shop in the 70's and the kids Dad was running one as well...I learned I had to be real tough with the delivery men or they cheated me all the time. They never tried any of that where himself worked.

This could be interesting, though I do not share your view that strong women are or need to be bitches...

Pat, you should read Charlaine Harris' Shakespeare Arkansas series.

I've read parts of this that you have posted on Blogit.  It makes me wonder if there is any place at all where one can buy your books?

Re: Annicita - "stereotyping to the max..."

But Annicita, dearest, you haven't met Evelyn yet... You've only seen my struggle to turn this fictional character into a believable one. And you may not have noticed, but I happen to like true bitches, aka strong women.

As for women who seek abortions -- you're right. They're conflicted, beset on all sides by opinionated folks who have little or no stake in their ultimate decisions, and quite often their hearts are broken or their lives damaged whichever way they decide.

I like Evie already! Much preferable to girly-girls, and I know you will do her justice.

I'm sure she will play the part Pat, I suppose she could miscarry, would you get pregnant these days if you did not want a baby. Or in the future. Just plonking my silly ideas in.  I know you will formulate a good solution. Look forward to it I still have not read your last

story but I will .

women who seek abortions are not all bitchy and outspoken....that's stereotyping to the max....

People are complex, people are conflicted...

People have beliefs about themselves based in fear, defensiveness, bias...  The written character needs to be all that, both ends of the spectrum: within every belief we carry of what/who we have to be, to succeed, we carry the very opposite belief, as well.  It is, I think, the evidence of such conflict and illogic--underlain by actual reason and internal logic, that makes a character believable.
