I think George Carlin said it best during one of his tirades when he explained one of many reasons why he no longer voted . . . "This country was bought and sold and paid for a loooooong time ago. This shit they shuffle around every four years doesn't mean a f***ing thing!"

To begin with, elections in the US occur too frequently - every two years, where everyone else has them four or five years apart...And the feverish excitement is mostly a media thing - created and maintained by them, often at the expense of the real issues.

And no, here in Canada, at least, we don't usually get all hepped up as much as you guys do in the States. Having said that, a son of Trudeau, who was the object (as well as architect) of Trudeaumania in the late '60s and through much of the '70s is running for the leadership of the Liberal Party and wants to start Trudeaumania II, LOL...

Hi Ceil no we don't get agitated in general I think most stick to there own preference and it is the waverers you decide. Mind we are not averse to rubbing our opponents in the mud if we are amongst those who believe the same as we do.

I think that quote was Churchill bless his cotton socks. Canada and

Australia, about 6 weeks is all we can stand of elections and I have more faith in one side than the other yes i do, but it never takes over our life like in the USA. I have no idea which is the better system.

I like the idea of not getting all excited about it.
I can go vote without carrying on with those who might oppose my views.
