Thanks, Kabu. And I guess I'd better be careful. It's a good thing my wife doesn't read any of my postings or opinions!

Re:

Well hey, adnohr, what's wrong with male panties? I wear 'em all the time, but I think they're now referred to as "tidy whities!"   Yeah, I agree . . . at this point, I don't care if a robot does the play-by-play of the hockey games either! Just get this issue settled, and drop the damned puck already! We're already losing players to the AHL and the Russian leagues!

Re: Jimmy

Exactly, Naut! You're absolutely right. Certain people, with certain voices, will always sound more attractive when connected to different events. In that case, a woman would probably come off sounding better. But not when they're on the sideline during an NFL game!

Re: you're a brave man Jimmy ...I mean what makes you so sure that we women

Well, Kabu, that was a guess, but I believe the meaning was still conveyed. I wasn't trying to get anyone riled, but this was just something that had been on my mind that I wanted to put out there. Hey, my blog is called "From The Observation Deck," and this is just one of my observations. And I placed it in the Opinion category because these are my opinions. And as I've always said about opinions, you have two choices . . . agree, or disagree. So, what's under your dress these days, hmmm?

Re:

Really, dsm? Well, as they say, "to each his own." Actually, I prefer a man in any TV setting, especially when there's a narrative involved. Very few women today have decent speaking voices, and I would much rather hear a man speaking. Do this little experiment: take the time to watch some old movies from the '30's, '40's and '50's, and listen to the voices of the women. Then tune into anything today, take a good listen to these "modern" women, and then tell me that you don't hear a significant difference. I think some years ago a helium plant somewhere exploded, and through the atmosphere, the residual helium settled into the women's olfactory senses. I'm sorry, but a huge percentage of them are extremely difficult to listen to anymore!

Re: JimmyA

Actually, Wiley, not only do I not listen to or watch female commentators, I don't watch any women's sports either! And is Cherry still wearing those loud outfits? I don't get to see him too often anymore.

I would accept listening to a darned ROBOT do the broadcast if the NHL would only put their male panties on and get our season going!!! Love Kabu's comment!!

Jimmy

I think it depends on the sport! Can you picture an ex-linebacker discussing synchronized swimming?

you're a brave man Jimmy ...I mean what makes you so sure that we women

JimmyA

You can't have taken in the Canadian Women's Pro Hockey Team. That is one place you'd have an expert sportscaster especially if you've watched Don Cherry too often. LOL

Re: this reminds me of an incident...

Well, Ciel, I suppose a toddler like that would still be grappling with the differences between boys and girls, and wouldn't understand yet how things have changed over the years. Yes, you've certainly come a long way, baby. Enjoy yourselves. But I still don't want to see or hear a woman commenting on a men's sporting event!

Re:

Thank you, C C T. Yes, there are enough "professional" ladies sports out there to give these female announcers and reporters other jobs to do. Just leave the men's sports alone, that's all I'm asking!

Re:

I'm not quite sure what you're referring to there, Annicita. I certainly don't profess to be standing on any soap box, and there will definitely be no "but" to follow. Like I wrote, I will not acquiesce on this one!

Re:

Well, mariss, following the action and reporting on it was never my beef. Like I wrote, I'm sure these women are competant and dedicated. But like my "Mike Tyson reciting Shakespear" reference, it simply does not sound right, and I just cannot watch or listen to them! Again, it's my preference.

Re:

Absolutely, FSI. Certain things look and sound better with a man, and other things look and sound better with a woman. And as for my sports, let's leave them to the men, shall we?

this reminds me of an incident...

some 36 years ago, it must have been... and I got on the city bus in Seattle... took a seat, watched a mother and her toddler son come up the steps.  The kid balked at seeing the bus driver.  Mama got him seated... and the kid burst into tears!  Mama, surprised,  asked, "Sweetie, what's wrong??"  The kid pointed to the bus driver and wailed, "It's a girl!"

What about a ladies hockey match or mud wrestling some things might be a bit easier to bare . No you are right Jimmy.

lol i agree with lustorlove....

also i love when men get on their soapbox and then have the proverbial but there....hhhh

I must differ in some cases, but no one should be forced to watch anything that bothers them!  I have seen some women sportscasters who seem to follow the action as well as the men.

Yeah, they don't seem to fit too well. I imagine too that there is television programming where men would be out of place as well.
