My problem with Obama is his words, "the worst economic crises since the great depression" and then he completly ignores the problem. He had control of both house and spent the first two years passing health care instead of getting the country going. Oh yea, he tried the stimulas, but this was never meant to put people back to work. That's why he laughed about things "not being quite as shovel ready as we thought" ha, ha, ha. He had the Simpson Bowls commission, commissioned to tell him what to do about the economy and when they came back with not only good ideas, but by partisan ideas, and he still did nothing except to expand unemployment benefits and food stamp benefits. At the time I was working a grave yard shift at a local convince store and watched as 17 year old after 17 year old, all still living with their parents, come in all night long to buy candy and energy drinks with their new found fortune of food stamps. This president is spending us into another Grease. We are about to have another increase in the debt limit and we have been down graded yet again and he still has done nothing to get folks back to work.He has only meet with his labor board twice in four years, the second time to laugh about 'shovel ready'. For heaven sakes, the man has meet with reps from the Muslim Brotherhood more than that. Now we are monetizing our own debt, with quantitative easing 4 and pretty soon now we will see even more of the inflation for that in food and fuel costs. And still he does nothing to put the country back to work. I'm a Republican, but not the Republican who would not vote for a better man, and the fact is that Romney is far better equipped to deal with this debt crisis than Obama could ever hope to be, and if we do not, if we stay on the road he has put us on, this may well be the last election. I mean the man has had over 7 vacations in four years, more than I have had in my life, and golfed over 100 times when the country is in crisis. If you think this is good then we live on totally different planets my friend. I mean think what those on the left would say to a Republican president with a record like this. It's a disgrace.

Re:

I know history, Jay. Anti-trust acts, regulations against child labor, low interest farm loans - bright spots and yes there were ugly black ones too - the Federal Reserve, WW1, betrayal of the suffrage movement, a sharp and unconstitutional curtailment of freedom of speech under Wilson. If I had been alive back then, you can bet I would have been loudly protesting those outrages!
But he and his brand of progressive governance is the past and the fight for freedom and justice should be the present and future - ongoing and never-ending. A progressive society means moving forward with an expansion of freedom and justice for everyone - put simply, a respect of and belief in human rights, reflected through domestic and foreign policies.
After nearly 4 years, what has Obama done that is unpatriotic? His agenda hasn't diverged that greatly from George W.'s in foreign policy - still killing innocents, adding to miltary empire-ism and conducting endless wars..Obama is NOT a progressive in those areas, unfortunately..
Health care reform? Modeled after Mitt Romney's plan? The automaker's bailout? The one that saved untold jobs, paid taxpayers back ahead of schedule and lifted those companies in global competition, namely GM?

You are a researcher Katray. So why do you not look up the beginnings of the "Progressive movement" back in the Wilson administration and see what you are so proud of. The hundreds of thousands of Americans who were locked up for a difference of opinion, or the way they had to change their name to liberals after the house of cards fell. And I fail to see what the age of the picture matters, or if it is the pledge, or the national anthem, the arrogance of this radical still comes shinning through.

Wow, this is a reach, lol

I mean how old is this photo? Anyway, it was during the national anthem, not the pledge of allegiance. You can go to MediaMatters.org and see pictures of Obama with his hand over his heart to put to rest your worries about his patriotism.
Jay, I really wish the Republican Part had a leg to stand on...somewhere. A One Party system is not healthy for any of us but that's where the country is headed if Republicans can't or won't let go of their obsessive hatred of Obama and progressives/progressive society and instead started listening to the people..

I wonder why his hand is not on his heart or his hands behind him.
