Sam...

We are about 200 feet from a county highway. However, it is a favorite shortcut for folks driving U.S. highway 395 going to easter British Columbia. Being a county road, the official speed limit is only 50 mph. No one but us locals drive that slow and some of us only drive 45 mph after dark due to an overabundance of deer crossing the road. I like to sit on my front porch and talk to my brother when he calls, but it is usually so noisy I have to retreat inside. We used to be only 35 feet off of another county road and with two young kids, that was just too close. House hunting is stressful but I think the thing is to just keep with it until you find one that pops. Oh, and don't forget to kick the foundation.

Maybe there is something better out there that you can grab as a bargain.  I hope so!

That was disappointing about that offer that suddenly came from somewhere else...I'm continuing to wish you well in finding a house.

Best of luck, Dear Sam!

You sound as though you have your priorities and budget considerations worked out well. Should be just a matter of time before you find "The One"..:)

It seems like the homes are going much faster. A sign that the economy is moving forward. Best of luck for you

It sounds like you have a lot of stipulations for your new home, but that is your right. Good call on passing on the house near the soon-to-be-widened road! You would probably have regretted it some time down the road!
