Each of my boys delivered papers when young lads - their first jobs. On rainy and very cold days, Mom would drive them around.
Great post!

I love that kind of tradition (although I have none of my own)

Well the paper boy still comes round here Taps ,but I pick ours up as I think the lads delivering might get knocked off their bikes they seem too careless. Of course they have to push papers inside too many rainy days to just bung them on the drive way.

I had a paper route when I was 11, but not for long.

Wiley loves to buy a paper sometimes and read it from front to back.

I used to work for a small newspaper. Loved the smell of the ink
when the press truck brought our stack to the office. Always liked the scent of printers' ink - didn't mind the dark smear on my fingers. They've changed to a soy-based formula now, it's not quite the same but better for the environment. As for the puzzle -- I didn't have the time nor patience for those when the kids were growing up, never got the habit, despite my love for words, etc. I really enjoyed this post, Taps. :)

It's been awhile since I completed a crossword puzzle...That's sad about your brother's friend...I like holding the newspaper in its paper form.
