Re:
I would consider you very lucky, adnohr! I seem to rarely have what I would consider "good" dreams. Most of mine are either very bizarre, or very frightening, and I wish I couldn't remember them! Maybe it's whatever I eat before bedtime . . .

It's rare I remember my dreams, but most that I do remember have been good dreams.

Re:
That's probably true too, lion. However, there's a good chance that Jo may have been so content with being a butterfly that he wouldn't want to pinch himself to wake up. Unless he didn't realize he was Jo afterall! Thus the cycle of going from reality to fantasy back to reality . . .

Re: Fascinating! I have dreams that I don't wish to awaken from....:)
Thanks, Katray. Yeah, I've also experienced dreams which seem to have been "sent" to me from someone departed. There is definitely something going on in the universe that we, as mere mortals, will probably never fully understand or appreciate until we've entered the cosmos proper! However, if there's one thing I can be truly patient with, it's finding out first hand. I'll know soon enough . . .

Re: Jimmy
I suppose that's true, Naut. Except that a butterfly starts out as a bug. Not a "big" bug mind you, but a bug nonetheless! Perhaps waking up as a big, colorful bird is better!

Jo would have had a particular problem: butterflies can't pinch themselves to prove they're not asleep...
Great thought though

Fascinating! I have dreams that I don't wish to awaken from....:)
But they are good writing inspirations. You know, some believe dreams that seem too true to be well, just a dream are in fact reality. I know the nocturnal "visits" I have received and still receive over the years from my much beloved, long departed Grandmother feel, smell and look something different than simply my sleeping thought processes. I learn things I have never had an inkling of, about myself, family, faith and the world at large. I know "out there" lol, but I think there is more to everything around us.
Great post!

Well, better wake up as a butterfly than a huge bug, as Kafka's Gregor Samsa did...

Sometimes that's better, luster. There are times when I don't want to recall some of the bizarre dreams I've had! And then there are times when I wish I woke up before the dream got too weird!

Re:
Thanks, Utah. And I must admit, I'm not really sure if you're pulling my leg or not. Did those nicotine patches really have that warning on them? I've never heard of that before! I mean, I've never smoked in my life, so I would never have any cause to even pick up a package of nicotine patches and read the warning labels. I know there are many medications out there with a myriad of side-affects, but that's a first for me! I guess there could be worse things to deal with when you're trying to quit smoking, like the inevitable weight-gain some people complain about, but vividly realistic dreams? Hmmm . . .

Re:
I'm glad I'm not the only one, Sam. Sometimes those are the scariest dreams . . . when you are torn between believing what you're experiencing, or doing your best to hold on to your sanity, knowing it's just a dream! There are times when you know you're dreaming, and as such, you think you have full control over everything, and can alter or manipulate the possible outcome. But it almost never works out that way. The only thing that resolves the situation is the morning sun! Weird sometimes . . .

Re: JimmyA
That, Wiley, may be the opposite of what some people might do. I think a lot of people go to bed and try to fall asleep contemplating some project in their heads, which would account for all of those insomniacs, I suppose! Most nights, I try to clear my mind and think of nothing in particular to fall asleep. And then, the character of Nightmare appears and begins to twist and distort my thoughts and visions, and suddenly, I find myself on the brink, and then . . . oh well, that's a blog for another day!

Perhaps, Kabu, perhaps. Unfortunately, in this day of cell phone cameras and other recording devices, we probably are being watched 24/7, and notes are being kept by somebody! At least in our sleep world we have a little privacy!

The ol' "double-hit" on the submit button? That's okay. It was still fun to read the second time!

Re: My favorites are the dreams where I wake up laughing.
I've actually never heard of that before, Ciel. I would love to wake up laughing over a dream some morning! And I wouldn't mind dreaming about kittens either! It has to be better than dreaming about demons or monsters or the IRS!

Re:
Well, that can't be good, Annicita! Sometimes people don't realize the power of "thought." Your mental prowess can sometimes affect your physical well-being, even unintentionally. The dreams I still hate the most are the ones with absolutely no rhyme or reason to them, but are realistic nonetheless. If we could somehow hook up a recorder to our minds and film these things ( instead of just describing them to someone else ) there would be some pretty weird videos floating around out there, even weirder than the ones already floating around out there!

I pretty much knew, FSI, that this particular concept would not be lost on anybody. I knew that I couldn't be the only one to have realistic dreams. Gets ya wondering, though . . .

Once I used the patches to help me quit smoking. After a few days I started getting these vividly realistic dreams, more like splatter movies that I was the star of. I remember waking up and wondering how that stuff got into my head. Then I read the package and found where it said to take the patches off at night as they may cause vividly realistic dreams. Interpretation...Read the package. Great post today Jimmy.

Interesting mind you have JimmyA, you come up with subjects as if you're a researcher. LOL My dreams, I am always physically working at some project or other that I can't solve before I wake up.

My favorites are the dreams where I wake up laughing.
Once, I was dreaming of wee kittens, just on their first explorations out of the box... as they climbed up my pantlegs, I called them, Lint-With-Legs.... In my sleep I can be terribly amusing! That was one time I was so amused, I was laughing aloud as I woke up.

Yes, it does get a person thinking. I've had a few dreams that I swore were reality before realizing that was not the case...It is interesting reading of our fellow bloggers' dreams.
