Re: Re: Re: who is Nelly? (BigSmile)
dancing bears; old kings and oranges...sounds like the beginning of a poem, to me...

Re: Re: who is Nelly? (BigSmile)

No I was referring to Nell Gwyn. Supposedly caught the eye of the randy old king whilst selling oranges. I suppose there was no television in those days, just a few public hangings for entertainment once one had seen a dancing bear I think one had seen them all.

I think we always remember our first loves...I do. I cannot get any of my feelings to come through in the strictness of a formed poem like you can, All though I write them, mostly for   fun.

Re: who is Nelly? (BigSmile)
what does "Nelly sold oranges mean?"

does our American "six of one or half a dozen of another" mean the same thing?

The newness of the experience of a first love is captured well in this poem.

Sorry dear I don't stagger across to this blog much these days. Quite honestly though I prefer your own poetry to this one. First love to many is a wrenching devestating torment

especially if it is not fulfilled, I can't remember any birds fluttering around, but I guess the old bard would get away with it in his time.Well Nelly sold oranges. Nice to see you back you are quite interesting.
